Introducing Ivy

Hi, I’m Ivy, the wanderer. Some folks know me as Lisa, but old friends call me Ivy, a name I acquired in high school.

Creativity is part of me. For more than 30 years I was a floral designer. I've enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. Photography has always been something I've enjoyed. In 2017 my family moved to Iowa, and I fell in love with Iowa's sunsets. I would wander Iowa's countryside in search of something to photograph with the sunset falling behind it.

In 2022, I enrolled in Hawkeye Community College's Professional Photography program. Once there, I studied portrait and commercial photography, specializing in portraiture. I graduated and was a student speaker at HCC's commencement in May 2024. My time at Hawkeye was pivotal, I was shocked when I won 2nd and 3rd place in the Student Art Show; it showed me my value as an artist.

I am married to Jon and we have 2 college age daughters (sniff) and our youngest is a high school senior. We once homeschooled for 7 years. We have a little zoo at our home-2 dogs, 2 cats. I love Volkswagens! Beep beep.

Welcome to Wandering Ivy Photography. I’m glad you are here; you’ve come to my website because you are desiring to have some amazing photos taken of someone who is special to you! August 2022, I entered Hawkeye Community College’s Professional Photography program. While there I blossomed into the photographer I am today. I enjoy portrait work and Fine Art photography where I wander Iowa’s beautiful landscape, capturing it, the way I see it. Several of my images have won awards from Professional Photographers of Iowa, Iowa State Fair, Hawkeye Student Art Show, and Iowa PBS with my “Harvest Sunset” image landing on the cover of their book, Iconic Iowa Snapshots by Iowans.
